Our First Night Together

We ordered some pizzas for dinner. Angela tells me that she doesn’t like to cook much, at least there I am the one who can help because I love it. If, for some reason, my boss says I can’t stay, I think I’m going to die.

“Angela, could you show me the rest of the house while the pizzas arrive?”

“For the rest of the house, I suppose you mean my trading desk, right? I imagine that is what really interests you because the rest doesn’t have too much to show.”

“You are getting to know me” –I smile and blush again.

“Come, and call me Angie, please, we are going to live together after all.”

She takes my hand and leads me to a room with the door closed. When she opens it, I see her trading desk. I thought it would be much more sophisticated, multiple monitors, and such. Instead, it only has a computer with a single monitor.

“Angela, ... Angie, do you only use a monitor?”

“Why would you need more?”

“I don’t know, I use three, almost all the traders I know, use several of them.”

“They are just a distraction.” I do position trading, I keep my trades open for a long time, I don’t do intraday. Everything I need to know I can see on a single monitor.”

She speaks with such assurance that I have no doubts remaining.

While we eat pizza, I ask her multiple questions about her professional career. She must think I am a bit annoying; instead of getting romantic, I talk about work.

I cannot help but notice the exact order that prevails throughout the house. Everything has a place, and Angela places things almost with devotion.

“Angie, you are such an orderly person. I’m going to drive you crazy this month with how messy I am.”

“I can’t help it, Ruth, I suppose we’ll come to a compromise. Maybe it will be good for me to share my space with someone a bit messier than me, even if it is quite difficult, it will give me balance. I don’t have it diagnosed, but some people have told me that I might have OCD. I am tremendously exact, and I always put everything in the same place and in the same way, as you will find out soon enough.”

After dinner, we get comfortable on one of the sofas in the living room. I lie on the couch and rest my head on her legs while she plays slowly with my hair. I am in heaven by her side, hugging one of her legs like a pillow while Angela caresses my cheek with the reverse of her hand.

"Are you still doing a lot of trading, Angie?"

"No, very little, some trades that I see very clearly, but little else. Enough to cover my expenses. Some Forex, but especially cryptocurrencies."

"Cryptocurrencies?"

"Yes, they respond very well to technical analysis, especially to the harmonic patterns that you use. Besides, they have a lot of volatility, so it is easy to find good opportunities. But I'm quite retired, I do it more as a hobby.
